You must have an original and valid driver’s licence, as well as an ID document or passport.

We will need the following personal details from you: full name, email address, residential address, Cape Town address (if not a Cape Town resident) and telephone number.

You will also need to supply a credit card at the point that the rental deposit is required.

You must hold a valid driver’s license and ID document/passport in order to rent a vehicle. We do accept valid driver’s license from other countries; however, an international driver’s license is preferred.

In the event of the driver having not held a licence for two years or being under 26 years of age, a young driver’s surcharge of R200 will apply.

A deposit is held for insurance purposes in case of an accident or theft of the vehicle. Deposits range from R5,000 to R8,000 depending on the type of car hired and the duration of the hiring period.

We accept cash deposits for contracts longer than fifteen days; however, there is a standard cash handling fee of R250 charged and all cash deposits must be paid up in full before the vehicle is released. You will still need to have a valid Credit/cheque card available.

All deposits are refunded on the good return of the vehicle.

We offer fully comprehensive car rental insurance with all our cars, always included in the price quoted. There is an excess(deductible) of R8000 due on Standard cover.

Reduce R8000 excess to R5000 excess at R35 per day.

Damages to Tyres and Glass are not covered by insurance, waiver can be taken out at R25 per day.

All our vehicles can be driven within a 300km radius of Cape Town, depending on the type of vehicle you hire. Travel Fee for outside the prescribed 300km radius will be R700.

No vehicle may travel further than 750km from Cape Town.

A breach in the Terms and Conditions of the distance you may travel can result in a travel fine of up to R5000.

You should report the scratch to Autohaus Rentals (021 2000 847 / rentals@autohausrentals.co.za).

On return of the vehicle you will be charged your excess plus an admin fee of R250.

If repairs are less than your excess you will be charged for the cost of repairs plus an admin fee R250.
